The E. Romero Fire & Acequia Museum project is completed!
After 9 years and many phases of grant writing and wonderful community spirit, the building will open soon.
Built in 1898, the E. Romero Fire & Hose Building is the first volunteer fire department in the Southwest. After years of decay and vacancy, MainStreet partnered with City of Las Vegas to save the building and it's very important cultural meaning to our city. In 2017, the entire community voted daily to compete with 25 other cities in America to win $150,000 from the National Trust for Historic Places & American Express for a culturally important historic preservation project and Las Vegas won! We are proud that we hired a local contractor, New Image Construction, local solar company, ECC Solar, and purchased all materials locally (except for the pressed tin ceiling). Watch MainStreet de Las Vegas on Facebook for updates on the ribbon cutting ceremony and more news including how community members can return artifacts and photographs so that our City Museum can begin to install a museum on Bridge Street!
